Don't forget: May 9 is Mother's Day!
A tribute to Mothers
Mother's Day falls always on the second Sunday in the month May and is celebrated with lot of enthusiasm in Australia.
Take Mother's day as an opportunity to express your gratitude! In this Newsletter we are going to tell you about the story of
Mother's Day, give you Mother's best advice and of course we will give you some ideas on what you can do to make your mother happy.

A bit of history...
The most recent history of Mothers Day dates back to 1600s in England. There a Mothering Sunday was celebrated annually
on the fourth Sunday of Lent (the 40 day period leading up to Easter) to honour mothers. After a prayer service in church to
honour the Virgin Mary, children brought gifts and flowers to pay tribute to their own mothers. Custom of celebrating
Mothering Sunday died out almost completely by the 19th century. However, the day came to be celebrated again after
World War II, when American servicemen brought the custom back and commercial enterprises started using it.

My Mother's best advice

We all know that mother's are wise and of course always right! Most of their advice will stay with us for the rest of our lives and will be carried from generation to generation. As we want your personal best advice from your moms, we are inviting you to contribute and send us your mom's advice to be included in our May newsletter.
Here are some advice daughters were given by their moms
"You can't do anything better if you're always the best" Birgitta, Sydney (25)
"Do whatever you want to do - and do it as long as you can" Anne, Sydney (21)
"Before you do anything life-changing, call me!" Charlotte, Melbourne (30)
"Don't let other people make choices for you!" Abbey, Perth (34)

How do you celebrate Mother's Day?
We asked some of our Breast Cancer Support Team what they do and here is what they told us.
BCS: Mother's Day is coming soon. What do you do to show your gratitude?
Martina: As I travelled the last 3 month, I couldn't see me mom. So I'll give my mom the best present: I will spend time with her.
On this Sunday we'll share secrets, tell her how much I miss her and we'll laugh a lot!

BCS: What did you do on Mother's Day last year?
Birgitta: Well, we had a nice dinner with the whole family that our dad cooked for us. Just my sister was missing as she was travelling around the world. My mom didn't know that we planned this dinner for her, so she was really surprised and we had a great evening.
BCS: Do you celebrate Mother's Day?
Sabine: Yes I do, the meaning of Mother's Day is really important to us. Five years ago my mom got breast cancer. It was a tough time and not easy. There were many ups and downs. In this time we really grew together. All in all, she won the fight against breast cancer. So I am going to make her an amazing gift. At first I will buy her favourite flowers, a page-turner and the Keyring of Hope as this is more than a keyring, this trendy accessory can also be used as a handbag charm. After I give her these gifts, we are going to spend an relaxing day in a luxury spa together. Normal 0 false false false EN-AU X-NONE X-NONE
